But I Digress... (Sampler Stole by Hazel Cater in"Graceful")

The ladies at Yarn Place asked if I would knit them something for the shop so I pulled out a ball of "Graceful" (color F03623 Summer) and I'm doing a relatively quick knit of Hazel Carters Sampler Stole from "A Gathering of Lace" using 2.5 mm Inox. Never fear however. I am also knitting on Boundary Waters because it's the closest to being finished so I can try out the shawl/lace blocking frame my brother made for me. I stretched this rather hard for these shots so I doubt it will actually block to this look unless I decide to try a "steam" block. Another variegated yarn, but the color changes are gradual and this colorway does not have radical shifts in color so it's quite pretty. I knocked off a row of WRS and was overcome by just how much smaller that yarn is than the Graceful. I have got to be insane.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone out there for responding to my anxiety over trying to alter the border for Spider Mutant. Somehow my brain went on vacation and I could not figure out how to proceed. No doubt guilt for having altered the pattern at all, classic that it is. I think I have a pattern for the border worked out and will take some quiet time to double check my stitch counts before starting. I will post and I will want everyone to be honest and let me know if this turns out to be a "reeker" as my friend Louise puts it. IE a really bad border. I hope not but sometimes things don't go as planned. Thanks again for the help!
I must go and read a book now because my hands want a rest. Good Evening and Good Knitting to everyone.

That Graceful is such pretty stuff! Almost as pretty as your WRS. They asked me to knit something also, but where would I find the time?

I can't wait to see how the sampler shawl looks in Graceful. I was tempted, but didn't order any.

By the way, they never emailed me about the knots.

Your shawl is gorgeously airy and dainty!

I'm tempted to finally buy some of YarnPlace yarn, but the new website is even worse than the old website!

I love that you consider this marvelously complex thing to be a "quick knit". Yikes!!! ;-)

Your Sampler Stole in Graceful looks so beautify.

I can’t wait to see your new Spider Queen border knitted up. I’m sure it will be gorgeous!

I'm almost finished recharting my version of the border for the Spider Queen.

Dear fleegle,

Since you got past the knots, I told them you likely did not need the replacement yarns but they set aside a few balls in your dye-lot until they know you don't need it anymore. I went to their shop to be sure. Hope you don't need it though! Can't wait to see your progress on Spider King.

Dear Laritza,

I'd be more impressed with me once I actually finish something! I hope this blocks out as nicely as it pins out. Until then, I will reserve judgement :-)

Dear Anon.

They are in "Web site Hell." they are trying to fix it so maybe you can get some later. Wait until this is done and blocked before you decide though. It's a very "bouncy" yarn and I don't now if it will hold it's shape well once blocked.

Dear Beth,

It's only "quick" because it's a stole rather than an entire shawl. Not so daunting as WRS which is thousands of stitches.

Dear missalicefaye,

Glad to spread the happy if possible :-) You always share so fair is fair!

Dear Colette,

I can'w wait to see how it turns out myself. Are you making up a border or altering a pre-exissting one like me? I can't wait to see your version as well.

That is just drop dead gorgeous! Words escape me. I hope Yarn Place fix their website soon. Or maybe it's a good thing that their having some technical difficulties. My wallet is aching.

Dear Renee,

Thanks for your comments! I hope it holds its shape once I block it. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't use starch when I block. Some fibers hold their shape once blocked, others not so much. This yarn is 100 wool and has alot of bounce to it. Unlike Mountain Pines that had silk in it and blocked great as a result! Glad I could give you something to look at!

Dear Opal,

I am familier with aching wallet syndrome myself :-) Don't run out and buy just yet. let's see how it looks once it's done. Maybe their site will be back up and running by then! This is not impressive until it is blocked so I hope it drapes well. We shall see.

Thanks for the nice big pic - I suppose it can be enabling in a wonderful way as now I can easily see exactly! where to drive to a new yarn store. Thanks for the detailed post - love it! Terry

Dear Terry,

I'm not much of a photographer but I wanted to be sure to give a good set of close-ups this time so everyone can see that "Gentle" is a two ply yarn and the singles are different colors from each other. While the yarn is varigated, it is also mixed. If you don't like that look, you don't want that yarn. The shop is very small, but has some very nice products inside. Their website is not working well but if you see something you want to buy, you can call them and order and they will ship it to you. Or, you can just drive there :-)

Dear Karen,

I try to bring eye candy to the blog when ever I can but I don't take very good pictures usually. I was lucky this time and I hope when I finish this that I can block it on the shawl frame my brother made for me so you can see the frame in use. My sister-in-laws sister, Millie, is almost finished with a shawl that may end up being the first thing I block on the frame. Glad you could check in on the blog.
