The Princess Shawl Re-issue (Madness. Sheer Madness)

My yarn selection for the Princess Shawl has arrived (sound of jumping up and down). ColourMart 3/45 Cashmere Silk in deep lavender. Knitting on 2.00 mm (US 0) needles, I'm working on the edging. I have to make 85 points. It's a whole lot easier to knit with this yarn than what I choose for the WRS and much more of a pleasure. I have also finished one end of the "Legends of the Shetland Seas" stole as you can see above. Now for the other end and then, you guessed it, more edging. I'm not even going to bother to post the Sampler Stole edge until I finish one side. All this knitting is really quite nice, but I am still longing for another Niebling project. Does that mean I'm an addict? Maybe just a small doily....I must go knit now!

That Colourmart yarn is lovely and the Princess shawl will be beautiful. I really like your Legends shawl and am looking forward to your progress.

Definitely cast on for another Niebling. You know you want to...Just one more... ;-)

oooooh! The Colourmart cash silk is lovely; the Legend is beautiful. I really appreciate the comments and swatching pics as I am contemplating the Princess myself.

Dear z's momma,

Glad you like the Legends Stole. I think it's going to be really nice when it's done and it is really quite soft from plying the BFL with the Merino. As for the Nieblings, maybe another doily. I'm saving the bigger Niebling projects for the start of next year but a doily almost doesn't count :-)

Dear Judith,

Lots of people are now attempting to do the Princess since the re-issue as you can see from the comments here. Are you on Ravelry? If you are, there is now a group there knitting it. The Princess Diaries 2.0. Lots of discussion and examples. missalicefaye has also started her edging if you go over to her blog and she picked a beautiful color of blue! If you decide to do it you will have lots of company!

love the colour you have chosen for the Princess shawl and so far it looks interesting and of course your knitting is beautiful as always...

Legends is looking good too... and yes I think you have to say you're a Niebling addict but at least you've done the hard part and admitted it ;o)

Of course the edging is lovely--and I admire your taste in color ;). Still waiting for my coral to show up. I swatched the lavender, but I would rather use a different color. I am not sure the world needs two lavender Princesses.

Legends is also gorgeous! Can't wait to see it finished.

I too need another Niebling. I am on row 125 and figure I will be finished in about three weeks.

All that in 10 days (from the last swatch post). You are amazing. Let's call you the Lace Princecess! You know I wonder if I'd have better luck with laceweight if I used much smaller needles and no mohair! My first attempt was a 6 needle with Kid mohair then Knitpicks, Shimmer. I am not giving up!

I am in Chicago in a business meeting but.....I have 6 points knit so far. I would have 9 if I had not started with 1.5 mms needles. I did not like the cloth, it was too dense. I timed the last two points and it take me 25 minutes per point. That is a minute and a hair per row. I doubt I can do it any faster. Although this hotel lights are as bad as they get.
I just realized that fleegle wants hers in coral! that is the color I fell in love with. For now mine is white as all of my Shetland lace. It might be time for me to part with white, but not for Princess...at least not for now. I am camera less. It is in the shop in annual cleaning so no pictures for at least three weeks. We'll see how far along I get before I can take pictures.

Oh that colour is beautifuy. After seeing how nice your edging looks I went to ColourMart site. They only had one cone of that colour left, so I ordered 4 cones of the natural. I'm waiting for it to arrive but I think this might just be the right yarn for this project.

Dear littleberry,

Good to hear from you again! I choose this color because it would be easy to look at for months on end. It's a popular choice as fleelge also bought some for the same purpose but she's not sure she wants to do it in the same color as me though we could choose different centers. I'm glad you like the lace though, as usual,it has imperfections :-) Ok, I admit I have a "Niebling" habit. I've already cast on "Salmon Queen" doily which I will show later when I have a bit more on the needles!

Dear fleegle,

Oh come on! We could have bookends if we both knit it in this color! Actually I defer to your choice to make it in another color simply because I'd love to watch you knit it in coral! I want to see your Lyra! I've seen some of it but I don't think you have posted more than twice on it so far? Love that red! I'm still working on Legends. Considering I now have TWO ENDLESS EDGINGS to do (Princess and Sampler Stole) I need something to knit in between. Spider queens alternate border is too intense to do as releif so will wait until next year so I'm going to do Salmon Queen doily. I got that pattern from doilyhead and I've always liked the one on the angelfire site for lace. What Niebling are you going to do after Lyra?

Dear Diana,

I really dislike knitting with mohair or any thing with lots of hair. The reason? I make too many mistakes and picking back stuff with hair really sucks. I'm actually one of those people who "knits in spurts". Sometimes I just read books and don't knit at all so don't get too impressed too soon LOL!

Dear Laritiza,

I feel like we are playing musical chairs :-) Fleegle and I struggle with both having the same color now you as well. Were all the previous Princes Shawls done in variations of white? You are knitting pretty fast there lady! That edging does take awhile so I know I won't be doing it every day or I'll go crazy. You have guts knitting from the light of hotel fixtures! That's got to be the worst lighting in the universe.I have not tried to time myself yet. Too depression since I knit slow Can't wait until you can post a picture of your edging!

Dear knitsanity,

I had considered knitting it in natural too! But, you know me. Color may not be classic but it's lots of fun:-)

Oh my gosh.. I just found you blog and I am so in love with your lace. Recently I just realized that lace knitting is my absolute most favorite thing to do and I am truly amazed at your work. I'm looking forward to seeing more!!!

Dear amanada,

Welcome! Though I spent many years knitting cables, I have now truly gotten the lace bug myself :-) If you look at the "Kindred Spirits" list on the left side of this blog and in the comments sections, you will find many others who love lace as well and you might want to check those blogs too. I'm glad you enjoy knitting lace and very glad you enjoy looking at my stuff. Always nice to hear from anyone who is looking in!

what a beautiful color for your princess. I'm looking forward to seeing all the different colored edgings side by side on the ravelry group! :)

Dear missalicefaye,

I love the color you picked as well. Very delicate and soothing to the eyes. It's going to take me a while to knit this but what else is new? It's already much more satisfactory than the WRS. It's really wonderful to see what everyone is picking to use for their Princess. Did anyone do the original pattern in color I wonder? It almost feels like this version is not such a sacred endeavor. More playful and fun :-)
