Home Stretch

Just a brief progress report . See above the finished border for the International Shawl. Estonian leaves and then I put Madeira and Diamond lace in next. This was not the agreed on pattern, I just stuck it in because it was the right number of stitches and looked OK to me so don't blame fleegle if you think it looks weird. That completed, I have to finish the edging for the International Shawl with a Danish Edging of leaves and then a crochet cast-off. Did I mention that I had not really looked at the chart for the Danish lace? That I had no idea where it starts for the corners and I'm not familiar with the stitch symbols? The edge now has 1090 stitches to go around it once. Oh well. No rest for the wicked! I finished plying the Peruvian merino wool that was sent to me as part of the Black Bunny Fiber Club. Very pretty and will be made into something for Season of Lace. I have joined for the Summer quarter but must finish the International Shawl before any other projects can be considered. I also have reached the center section of The Saigon Scarf by Badcatdesigns as part of "The One Shawl To Rule Them All" KAL on Ravelry. I love adding beads to it. I can feel my inner crow coming to the surface as I stare at the pretty sparkle of the beads. I will post later when I have a bit more to look at.

the international shawl is looking good, how long is it taking oyu to get round the 1090 stitches? that's what I call stamina!!!

The Saigon scarf is a avery pretty shade of green and the beads are a nice accent...

Your spinning as always is lovely and a joy to look at...

You do such beautiful work. I love how International shawl is turning out. The way one motif morphs into the next is brilliant.

Your spinning is amazing. That is very thin yarn.

Miss Saigon is gorgeous. And bright shiny things...I love bright and shiny.

I certainly don't blame you--you are a genius and it looks fantastic (guilt creeps over fleegle...). I usually don't care for green, but I have to admit that your Saigon scarf is just lovely. And, of course, your spinning is exquisite as always.

The International Shawl is looking amazing. You and Fleegle are annoyingly clever.

I love the colour (actually, I love the colour of all the yarns on your post today).

I love the handspun. I can't wait to see the pattern you've chosen for it. The other lace pieces are looking lovely. I love the green color on the wrap.

It is all so lovely--and your Saigon scarf sparkles so prettily! :)

Look at all the pretties! I'm especially drawn to your spinning. It has such a beautiful sheen to it.

Dear littleberry,

Thanks! I love the addition of beads to the scarf as well. The count at row 11 of the edge is now 2,435 stitches to go around once. This is going to take a little bit of time.

Dear Z's momma,
I am happy with how the International Shawl is working out. I hope to finish it this weekend and block it. It's already promised to a co-worker who retired so my pictures of it will be all that's left. I still have more of the yarn so I plan to make myself something with it that I will keep.

Dear fleegle,

This shawl is looking really good so I guess my initial worries about getting different lace types to go together were unfounded. If I had dropped as many stitches as you did, I would shoot myself so no worries that you have not picked yours back up yet. I like the color green in general myself. Maybe too much. The black bunny fibers is a pretty blue so I will try to pick something nice to knit with that to give your eyes a break :-)

Dear Soo,

I can't remember if it was fleegle or yorksett who came up with the idea for this shawl but I will confess I thought it was some kind of lace knitter, bonding, traveling pants, torture kind of thing. I wasn't sure how it would work out but it ended up being very interesting to knit. As for yarn colors, let's face it. We just love yarn in general :-)

Dear Nautical Knitter,

Thank you :-) I enjoy knitting even though I'm not perfect with the knitting.

Dear Rosa,

I am not sure what to do with the blue yarn. It's such a soft color and does not have very strong color changes. I could be used for almost anything. It' doesn't scream out to be anything in particular yet. I love the green as well but I need to start spinning other colors for awhile :-)

Dear missalicefaye,

Caw caw! Who knew I'd crave the sparkles so much?

Dear Opal,

I'm enjoying the spinning right now. I go for months at a time with no spinning usually but I'm on a run with it right now. It's a challenge to figure out what to do with the finished yarn and sometimes they just sort of sit there for awhile until I hit on a project. But that would be my entire stash :-)

1090 stitches??!! Eek! ::thud:: Okay, I have picke dmyself off the floor and am contemplating the idea a little more rationally. I am having trouble with 70 stitches on a sock. I cannot imagine tinking back to fix something ont he shawl. I think I will leave that to your skilled hands!

Dear Carol,

Actually, it's getting longer every row at the end because the leaves for the edging are getting wider. If I make a mistake, it's just going to stay there this time :-)
